When discussing sustainability most people tend to focus more on environmental or economic issues and overlook the core concept of human need. Sustainability is multi-layered and depends on supporting a large fabric of social infrastructures and cohesion. Strong laws, democracy, peace, education, health, human rights, equality and access all play a role. The ultimate vision of sustainability is an inclusive society aimed at the continuous improvement of the quality of life for both current and future generations.
But what do this mean for all of us? Do we feel connected to the concept of sustainability? Do we feel included or fundamentally excluded from the discussion spaces where potential pathways forward are decided? What are the barriers and challenges that are unequally faced as we fight for an inclusive future that may be sustainable?
Raise your voice and opinion in a space deliberately created to enable discussion and provoke new avenues for inclusiveness within a debate that is often closed and seemingly unavailable to many. We aim to highlight positive and negative, the good, the bad, the ugly of the conversation around sustainability. Join us as we try to unpack sustainability across the Brunel campus, and beyond, from multiple perspectives through a punctuated participatory networking and gallery event. Hosted by the Centre for Global Lives.
