Research events

The formal launch event for the Centre will take place on Wednesday, 25 May 2022. The event will be part of the Brunel Research Festival and feature invited talks by three inspiring speakers  - please see further details and REGISTER HERE.

We host the Brunel-Bielefeld RMT workshops and the MAFELAP conferences, among other major international events.

Random Matrix Theory Workshops

• International workshop series bringing together scientists from different disciplines who work in the field of Random Matrix Theory (RMT) and its applications.

Mathematics of Finite Elements and Applications Conference

• International conference with over 50 years of tradition in leading mathematical thought in the analysis or application of finite element and related methods.

The most recent and upcoming events (co)organised by the members of the Centre include:

• Conference "Random Matrices and Random Landscapes" will take place at Congressi Stefano Franscini, Ascona (Switzerland) on 24-29 July 2022.
• XVII Brunel-Bielefeld Workshop on Random Matrix Theory was hosted this year as an online event at ZiF - Center for Interdisciplinary Research, Bielefeld University (Germany) on 16-18 December 2021.
• The 2021 Edge Days workshop on "Explicit K-Stability and Moduli Problems" took place in Edinburgh on 29 November - 3 December 2021.

In 2020-21, despite the challenges of the pandemic, we successfully run the following research events online: 

• The LMS Invited Lecture Series on “Fractional Calculus and Fractional Stochastic Calculus with Applications” was held on 30 March - 3 April 2020. 
• XVI Brunel-Bielefeld Workshop on Random Matrix Theory was held on 18-19 December 2020 and gathered over 120 international participants. The next workshop will take place in Bielefeld on 16-18 December 2021. 
• The 2020 Edge Days workshop on "Explicit K-stability and moduli problems”,  originally due to take place in Edinburgh, was hosted online by Brunel on 7-11 December 2020. It gathered about 70 international participants and many high profile international speakers.   
• Brunel has hosted three COW seminars; these inter-university seminars in Algebraic Geometry reach a very international audience.
