Creative Interruptions: grassroots creativity, state structures and disconnection as a space for radical openness

A £1.2m award from the AHRC, funds an international consortium project (2016-19) exploring how disenfranchised communities have used cultural production to challenge inequality and oppression.

Dynamic Tensions: New Masculinities in the Performance of Fitness

Funded by an AHRC this project will aim to transform our understanding of the relationship between physical fitness and masculine gender construction by investigating fitness and sport as performance by combining ethnographic fieldwork and artistic practice-as-research.

Domestic violence in child contact proceedings

Research led by Dr Adrienne Barnett (PHL) examines how courts and professionals respond to domestic violence. Her two journal articles in Child and Family Law Quarterly and in Feminist Legal Studies have already had substantial and influential impact.

Constituency Campaigning in the 2015 British General Election

Funded by the ESRC and Electoral Commission (£235,000), the project examines constituency campaigning at the 2015 British General Election to further our understanding of the impact, role, and nature of campaigns in the modern political arena.
