Daniel Gutiérrez-Ujaque, Ph.D. student, University of Lleida will be talking about his research in the Sociology and Communications research seminars. See his blurb below:
This study develops a transdisciplinary methodological perspective for teaching in higher education through the prism of sensory studies (Howes, 2003), assemblages (Deleuze and Guattari, 1980) and urban space (Lefebvre 1991). It is based on action-research approach (Kemmis, 2009) which explores the relationship between social workers and industrial engineers at the University of Lleida (Spain). This case study aims to achieve a transdisciplinary project between these two degrees by combining a teaching methodology based on contemporary art practices (Adams et al., 2008), the use of hybrid spaces (Zeichner, 2010) and the engagement of sensory narratives (Emerald, 2016).
Daniel Gutiérrez-Ujaque is currently a Ph.D. student at the Department of Geography and Sociology, University of Lleida (Spain). He has a Bachelor’s Degree Primary Training and a Master’s Degree of Inclusive Education, both from the Faculty of Education, Psychology and Social Work, University of Lleida, Spain. His PhD research develops a new teaching approach that supports deeper professional practices for Social Workers and Industrial Engineering students. Both professions work with the relational dynamic assemblages in urban environments: social workers from a social perspective and industrial engineering with a technical perspective. The study offers innovative teaching practices for these degrees and the creation of a new learning-teaching approach based on embodiment, sensoriality and emplacement.
