- The Preparing for Level 7 Study (Level 6) module is designed to widen access for all registered healthcare staff who do not meet the entry criteria for postgraduate study.

The dissertation module is designed to enable students to advance practice in their own field of practice. Students will negotiate with their employers and dissertation supervisor a mutually agreed focus for their Research / Service Improvement Proposal building upon their original submission for the PGDip research module (PN5604).
Students will further develop their knowledge and understanding of research at post-graduate level using on-line learning materials and be supported by a dissertation supervisor.
Students must have passed the PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) programme (120 credits) and be registered as a SCPHN on Part 3 of the NMC Register before they can register on the Master’s dissertation module (60 credits).

This level 6 standalone module has been designed to prepare registered healthcare and social care professionals and applicants for post graduate pre-registration Healthcare (Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy) and Social Work programmes for studying at level 7.
Typically, students may not have studied for some time, lack confidence in their academic writing skills for starting level 7 studies or have been advised by the admissions tutor for the Programme they are applying for to undertake the module prior to starting their studies at level 7.
This module will foster the development of the academic skills expected when undertaking a level 7 course.
Entry Requirements:
Suitable for applicants who hold a Diploma of Higher Education in a health related subject, a BSc Pass, Ordinary, a 3rd class Honours Degree or equivalent qualifications. Applicants who studied a long time ago and wish to upskill and raise their academic portfolio are also able to apply.
Module Aim:
To prepare healthcare professionals to undertake further academic studies, through the development of their academic skill set.
Module Structure:
The module comprises 9 contact hours. Taught sessions will be face to face on campus and will help you grow and develop your transferable skills to prepare you for studies in your area of practice.
Day 1 – a six-hour day
Day 2 – a three-hour day
Assessment:
Assessment will consist of a portfolio evidencing your ability to prepare for your studies at level 7.
Finance and Funding:
Course cost: £574
Fees should be paid to Brunel University London – details on how to do this will be provided upon enrolment.
Alternatively, employer detail for invoicing must be provided
Fees must be paid in full before the commencement of the course.

If you have enrolled on a CPPD course previously and would like to join another module, there is no need to submit another application. Instead, you should contact the Taught Programmes Office for the department you want to join and provide them with the details of the module you want to study. They will be able to provide you with more information on what you need to do.
Fees
A fee will be charged for each module of study.
The cost of the fee will depend on the size of the module (10 credits, 15 credits, 20 credits or 30 credits).

If you choose to apply we will confirm the fee to you when we make you an offer and you will be invoiced for the fee once you enrol.
