Animation: Camera Clipping Planes and Targets
- A clipping plane is perpendicular to the camera view at a specific distance away from the camera. There are two types of clipping in Max: near and far.
- A near clipping plane does not render any objects between the camera and the clipping plane
- A far clipping plane does not render any objects further from the clipping plane
-
- There are two types of cameras in Max: target and free.
- A target camera has a camera location and a defined target at which it always points. The camera and target can be moved independently of each other, providing easier control.
- A free camera does not have a target and is used in special circumstances, such as path based animation, where you want the camera to follow a path and always look in the direction of the path.
