Animation: Light Introduction
- Visible light is composed of a spectrum of colours from red to violet.
- When light strikes an object some of these colours are absorbed whilst others are reflected by the material. This defines the colour of the material.
- Computer displays produce light, rather than reflecting it, using the additive colour model: red-green-blue.
- Colour temperature (in kelvins) refers to the temperature to which a black object must be heated to have it radiate a particular spectrum of colours. Colour temperature indicates the warmth or coolness of the light in terms of colour.
