Working within your local community, you will have insights into areas that require improvement, gaps in services, and challenges that hinder the development of a safer, fairer, and more prosperous environment.
The central question is: How can we build a better Abuja for everyone – making it a safer, fairer, greener, and more prosperous city for all Nigerians?
If you are a student eager to tackle real-world challenges in your community and explore innovative solutions through a team-based approach, we encourage you to apply.
Please note that students must find a mentor (such as an educator from your school) to collaborate with on your application. Each application should address one of the designated community challenges and align with one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The programme, running from late January to the end of April 2025, will officially begin with successful applicants on 3 February 2025. Applicants selected for participation will be notified with detailed instructions on how to join the programme and start developing their projects. Throughout the project development phase, participants will receive online training/workshops, and ongoing guidance from experts at Brunel University. Your mentors also will guide you throughout the programme, providing feedback and advice to help develop your project.
At the conclusion of the programme, on 24 April 2025, all projects will be showcased in the Demo Day competition. Teams will present virtually in an online session to fellow participants, mentors, and a panel of judges. Five outstanding projects will be selected and awarded.
Application Guidelines:
- Applications must be jointly prepared by students and mentors.
- Mentors are responsible for submitting the applications on behalf of their students.
- Applicants may apply individually or as a group, with a maximum of 5 participants per team.
- Applications must align with one of the designated challenge areas.
- The applications must be submitted in PDF format by a mentor.
- Mentors must attach student parental consent forms as part of the application.
