We help you to enhance your career options through the chance to do a work placement.
You have the chance to top up your three-year undergraduate programme with an additional one-year work placement, converting your studies into a four-year undergraduate degree. This is an invaluable opportunity to build your confidence in a variety of work settings, see which future career is right for you, and increase your chances of securing a future role, before returning to university to complete your final year of studies.
A specialist work placement team will support you in developing your CV, navigating the Brunel Jobs board, and in joining popular jobsites and networking opportunities as you decide what field, role, and whether it’s paid or unpaid work you wish to pursue. Once you reach interview stages, your dedicated Placement Officer will assist you with in preparing, including mock interviews and assessment activities. After securing a placement, a work placement tutor will stay in touch with you, and you still have access to services such as welfare and wellbeing, the library, the Student Centre and Student Union. The university offers a range of bursaries to provide financial assistance and you pay a significantly reduced tuition fee throughout the placement year (in 2023/4 it was £1,385 and is unlikely to rise substantially for 2024/5).
In previous years, our students have completed placements with HotVox, SEK International Schools, City Year UK, Bridge Theatre and at Brunel University itself.
