A degree in media and communications will equip you with the necessary transferable skills in critical thinking, critical reading, critical writing, research, presentation and public speaking, preparing you for the world of work.
You’ll benefit from our friendly department where you will be taught by internationally-recognised academics who will offer support throughout your degree. In our practical spaces, specialist technicians will be on-hand to help you if you need additional support.
Studying media and communications at Brunel is not limited to the classroom; you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your mind by going on fieldtrips and getting first-hand experiences during filming sessions where you will learn about cameras, lighting and editing.
As a media and communications student you will study the core ‘Production’ module which runs each year. In this module you will learn the theory into creating a piece of screen media and will then get to practise working with cameras, lighting and sound editing before going off in groups to make a short film followed by writing a review essay.
Media and communications academics encourage you to participate in extra-curricular activities and are interested in your future goals, supporting you in your journey to graduation. The ‘Soc Comms’ society will also give you an outlet to explore further passions alongside likeminded people.
At Brunel, you will have the opportunity to learn a different language while you study. This will give you the opportunity to develop and expand your communications skills, gain an insight into other cultures, prepare you for an international exchange programme and will give you a competitive edge in the global job market.
