Our research priorities
Our centre’s research priorities are to:
i) develop, evaluate and implement physical activity and sedentary behaviour interventions to improve health and manage chronic diseases
ii) investigate mechanisms and factors (environmental and contextual) that underpin human performance, health and function
The population groups that we conduct research with include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Patients with cardiovascular disease (e.g. stroke), metabolic diseases (e.g. type 2 diabetes) and pulmonary diseases (e.g. asthma, COPD, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis)
- Cancer patients and survivors
- People with neurological conditions (e.g. spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy)
- Older adults (including those with frailty and sarcopenia)
- Children and young people
- Athletes and recreational exercisers
