The Accounting and Auditing Research Group (AARG) has an open and dynamic research environment. Colleagues at AARG draw on their robust research to influence the policy and practice of accounting, auditing, and finance. AARG brings together students, faculty, alumni and partners for innovation and the sharing of knowledge and ideas on accounting and finance. AARG offers undergraduate and postgraduate research-led teaching on auditing, corporate governance, corporate finance, financial accounting, management accounting and taxation topics. AARG is based at the Brunel University Business School, London and is directed by Professor Kevin McMeeking.

The Business Accounting department is one of the few UK Accounting department that is overtly multidisciplinary and has a blend of Education and Research (E&R) and Education and Scholarship (E&S) staff across all levels, with a blend of UK and international staff. Due to our ability to engage in several research areas across different methodologies, linking to other disciplinary areas, we are able to construct a unique research profile, by fostering interdisciplinary collaborative research and promoting internal collaboration and mentoring.

The Business Accounting Department has a strong reputation as a department with an innovative and interdisciplinary research portfolio that reflects the diverse interests of its members. Research active faculty are engaged in a wide range of interdisciplinary work that links to Economics, Finance, Business & Management, Engineering, Environmental Science, Information Technology, Sports Science, to name a few. The Department has built a highly regarded research community with the Symposium as the annual centre piece and a respectable set of research outputs (see summary below). The department has strong international research links with members researching and publishing with international partners.

The AARG run internal (brownbag) and external seminar programme during the Autumn and Spring teaching semesters, an annual accounting symposium and hold a research away day during the Summer months.
