Offer Holders FAQ

When do I need to meet the conditions of my offer by?

Please see your offer email for full details of your offer conditions, and the date that you should aim to meet these conditions. If you do not think you can meet the conditions of your offer by the deadline we have given you then please contact our Admissions Office to discuss this so we can advice you further.

Note: If you do not think you can meet any condition of your offer to pay a deposit by the deadline we have given you, then please see the FAQs below this one with more information on what you should do. 

How should I send you evidence of my achieved academic, English language or other qualification results to meet the conditions of my offer?

Applicants applying through UCAS: If you are taking UK qualifications such as A Levels, BTECs, International Baccalaureate Diploma or AccessHE qualifications in the year you are applying to university then your exams board will most likely send us your results via UCAS. As such, you will not need to send us anything. You should check with your school or college to find out whether this will apply to you.

However, if you need to send us evidence of any other achieved qualifications that will not be sent to us by your exam board, then please follow the guidance in the paragraph below.

Applicants applying Directly (i.e. not through UCAS): You should upload evidence of your achieved results to your myApplication portal on eVision. Our Admissions Office will review your results to check whether you have met the Conditions of your offer, and that the documents are authentic. You should aim to provide scans of colour copies of your final awarded documents, either on official school/university or qualification paper. The documents should include the final awarded transcript detailing any subjects and/or module results, and your final awarded certificate. If you are being awarded a degree then your documents should clearly state that your documents have been ‘awarded’ on ‘conferred’

We ask all our applicants to send us evidence of their achieved qualifications to make sure they are authentic, and so that they will be able to handle the demands of their chosen course. If you don’t think you can send us this evidence in this format, then please contact our Admissions Office at the earliest opportunity and discuss this with a member of staff so they can advise you on what you should do. Additionally, if you’re documents are not in English, you send in the original versions along with a translated copy that has been translated by a professional translator (and the translated documents should be stamped and signed by the translator).

Note: If you are sending us your Indian Standard XII results, then please be aware that in addition to your final awarding certificate you or your agent must provide us with a copy of your Standard XII transcript that has been verified on, and downloaded from, the Digilocker website. Alternatively, please provide us with an attested copy of your Standard XII transcript from your school.

What should I do if I have not met my academic or English conditions of my offer?

Please send us evidence of your achieved qualification results, even if they do not meet the requirements we asked for. We are sometimes able to confirmation applicants’ places onto their course if they were close to meeting the requirements we asked for. If we cannot confirm you onto your course, we will see if we can make you an offer for a suitable alternative course within Brunel University London or at our pathway provider Brunel Pathway College, and otherwise provide you with more information on what your options are or update your application status with a final decision from us. 

Why have you asked me to pay a deposit to secure my place on the course?

We ask students who require a visa to study in the UK to provide a deposit or to provide evidence of fully awarded sponsorship or a scholarship to secure their place on their course.

This is important because it helps us to:

  • plan for how many students will be studying on the course so we can provide a great learning experience,

  • understand how many Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS’) we may need to issue to ensure students who require a visa can travel to the UK.

The deposit is counted as a payment towards the tuition fee. If we are able to verify fully awarded sponsorship or a scholarship then we will not require any further payment to register for the course.

Details on how to pay the deposit can be found at http://www.brunel.ac.uk/international/fees-and-funding/making-a-payment. The best way to make a deposit payment is to pay online as we will receive this more quickly and may be able to process your unconditional offer sooner.

Why do you need me to pay my deposit by a deadline? 

Since there is competition for places on some of our courses and some of these courses may become oversubscribed, we ask applicants to pay their deposit or provide evidence of sponsorship or a scholarship, within a defined deadline. 

  • If you apply directly to Brunel through our online application form we ask that you do this within 28 days of receiving your offer.
  • If you are applying through UCAS, who have restrictions around how soon you can respond to an offer, we ask that you do this within 28 days from the date that you accept our offer as your Firm choice on UCAS, or 7 days from the date you receive your Clearing offer email if you are made an offer through Clearing.

By meeting this deadline you are making a firm commitment to study on the course. This means that in the event that the course fills up we will be able to prioritise you for a place on the course.

What if I cannot pay my deposit by the deadline?

We appreciate that not all of our applicants will be ready to make a firm commitment to studying with us because you are still considering all your options, including other universities you have applied to. As such, you may not be ready to pay your deposit by the deadline we gave you. For a lot of our courses this will not be a problem, and as long as you pay your deposit later on we will most likely be able to confirm your place on the course and issue you with a CAS, if you need one. If the course does fill up we will review whether we can confirm your place on the course and this will be subject to course vacancies.

To help you understand which courses are more likely to fill up early, meaning we would recommend you try your best to meet the deadline, we’ve provided a list of courses which could become oversubscribed (but please note this list is subject to change):

I am applying for sponsorship or a scholarship to cover the cost of my tuition fees. Do I still need pay a deposit? 

Applying for full tuition sponsorship (or a financial guarantee)

No, we will be able to accept suitable evidence of your sponsorship as evidence you have met the requirement to pay a deposit. You should upload any documentary evidence of your confirmed sponsorship to your eVision myApplication portal as soon as you have it. Our Admissions team will then pass this to our Student Finance team who will decide whether this is suitable. If it is, we will update your record to note that you have met your deposit requirement and will send you an email to tell you we have done this. If not, you will be required to pay a deposit. 

Applying for a scholarship

We may be able to accept suitable evidence of your awarded scholarship as evidence you have met the requirement to pay a deposit. You should upload any documentary evidence of your confirmed scholarship to your eVision myApplication portal as soon as you have it.

Our Admissions teams will then pass this to our Scholarship Team or Student Finance team who will decide whether this is suitable. If it is, we will update your record to note that you have met your deposit requirement and will send you an email to tell you we have done this.  If not, you will be required to pay a deposit. 

I won’t get my confirmed sponsorship or scholarship until after the deposit deadline. What should I do?

Applying for sponsorship (or a financial guarantee)

For a lot of our courses this will not be a problem, and so long as you provide evidence of your confirmed sponsorship with enough time for us to prepare any Confirmation of Acceptance of Study (CAS) you might need we will be able to confirm your place on the course.

However, there are some courses (see above) which may be oversubscribed, and unfortunately we cannot guarantee we can hold a place for you while you wait to provide evidence of your sponsorship. Nonetheless, we will try to help you if we can.

Applying for a scholarship

If you have applied for an external scholarship and are waiting for a decision it is unlikely you will be notified on the outcome of your scholarship applications by our deadline to pay a deposit. If your chosen course is likely to fill up early we do recommend you consider your options fully and make a deposit payment in order to secure your place. It is important to note that if you are later awarded a full scholarship the deposit payment will be refunded. However, if this is not feasible you should wait till you get the outcome of your scholarship application but please keep in mind that if you are not awarded the scholarship there may not be any places left on the course.

Will I need a Student visa to travel to the UK and join my course?

Whether or not you will need a Student visa to travel to the UK depends on your immigration status, how long your course will last and the type of course you are coming to study.

What do I need to do do get my Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number to apply for a Student visa?

You will need to meet all your outstanding offer conditions and be issued with an Unconditional offer before we issue you with a CAS number. This would include any academic and English conditions, and any non-academic conditions including any deposit payment you need to make. Check your offer email to find out what conditions you need to meet. We will issue you with a CAS number up to 6 months before your course start date.

When will I get my Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) number to apply for a Student visa?

If you will need a Student visa to travel to the UK and join your course, then we will issue you with a CAS number up to 6 months before your course start date. You will need to meet all your outstanding offer conditions and be issued with an Unconditional offer before we issue you with a CAS number. This would include any academic and English conditions, and any non academic conditions including any deposit payment you need to make. Check your offer email to find out what conditions you need to meet.

Once you have your Unconditional offer we will aim to provide you with your CAS number as soon we can. Please do not be concerned if you do not receive as soon as you are eligible for one (i.e. once you have an Unconditional offer and there are 6 months or less before the start of your course). We do lots of preparation to make sure we’re ready to support you to get your CAS number and help you with any queries you have as your course start date approaches. As such, whilst we might not be able to provide you with a CAS number 6 months before your course start date, we will do this as soon as we’re ready to make sure we’re ready to help you.

Enroly-CAS Shield Information

We have recently introduced a new admissions and compliance system called Enroly CAS Shield. This will make it easier for you to complete the next steps in the admissions process and upload your documents. It also means that we can better track our applicants and support you through the process of applying for your student visa.  

Ahead of being issued a CAS, you will be asked to:

  1. Accept your offer and pay your tuition fee deposit. If you’re a sponsored student, then please send us evidence of official financial sponsorship as checked and passed by our Admissions Team.
  2. Complete your CAS application – you will be able to create an Enroly CAS Shield account using the link in the email we send you (once you have paid your deposit and accepted your offer). An example of the email invite can be found below.
  3. Once logged in, complete your CAS checklist and upload your documents such as your passport. You may also be asked to supply other financial documents and complete a short online pre-CAS interview.
  4. Our dedicated compliance team will then assess your documents and information to determine your eligibility for a CAS as outlined in our Admissions Policy: https://www.brunel.ac.uk/about/admissions/admissions-policy

When  should I pay the balance of my first tuition fee instalment (50% of the first year fee) to register for my course?

A tuition fee instalment of 50% of the tuition fees for the year will be required prior to registration and for some applicants before a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) can be assigned.
