Ms Frances Dickenson
Lecturer (Education) in Film Production

Gaskell 164

Summary

At Brunel, delivering a variety of modules, online, both as module leader and sharing delivery. Prior to that for ten years, in parallel with my work as a filmmaker, I worked as an HPL and visiting lecturer at various British universities.

I have worked as a film and programme maker for 30 years, twice being finalist for a BAFTA Best Arts Documentary. My programmes and films have been broadcast by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five and Sky Arts, as well as being broadcast internationally.

I am interested in exploring new ways of delivering effective teaching - and the experience of teaching online during Covid has been suprisingly useful in this. I'm also inteested in exploring the Video Essay form, both as an academic medium but also as a means of delivering lectures and teaching.

Qualifications

BA (Hons) History, SOAS

Responsibility

My main responsibility is to devise and deliver a variety of modules both as module leader and sharing delivery with my colleagues.

I work hard to be an effective educator and a supportive colleague, both to the academic staff but also to those who support us in the carrying out of our duties.

I consider one of my key responsibilities the pastoral care of my students and tutees and hope to enable them to achieve their goals.
