Summary
Dr Bin Gong is the Marie Skłodowska–Curie Research Fellow with special interests in computational geomechanics, rock fracture mechanics, and risk assessment, mitigation & prevention of geohazards. Prior to joining Brunel University of London, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Dalian University of Technology, China from 2019 to 2021. He has developed a multiscale and probabilistic model to characterize the spatial inhomogeneity of geomaterials and capture the mechanical mechanisms of slope failure and landslide dynamics. Meanwhile, he has proposed and programmed a continuous to discontinuous numerical method which enables adaptive node adjustments at critical crack tips under the fulfillment of strength criteria and can effectively simulate the initiation, propagation and coalescence of cracks within jointed rock mass.
