Summary

Working as a teaching technician Darren’s primary role is to support the preparation and teaching of practical sessions for students Levels 4 – 7 on the Biomedical Sciences course, alongside provision of facility management, health and safety support and enabling research. He is the Practical Skills Session Coordinator: designing and running refresher lab skills sessions for Levels 5 – 7.

Darren is a professional member of the Institute of Science and Technology and a Registered Scientist. He is actively involved in the Technician Commitment at Brunel in the form of the TechNet Council; currently serving as co-chair. Darren also has a keen interest in improving the sustainability of the lab spaces as Sustainable Labs Champion. He was previously recognised with the Vice Chancellors award in 2021 for ‘exceptional achievement’.
