Topics
If you are interested in a PhD, please get in touch. My research interests include:
- Fluid dynamics and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation.
- Multiscale modelling (cpl-library.org) linking particle and continuum models (link).
- Fundamental research into turbulence from the molecular scale (link).
- Liquid-Vapour interface dynamics (link) and boilng (link)
- The interface between statisical mechanics, fluid dynamics and chaotic system dynamics.
- Applying machine learning to fluid and multiscale modelling.
- Best practice in software engineering and validation of numerical models
I am a fellow of the sotware sustainability institute and an advocate of best practice in software engineering. During a PhD with me, students can expect to be trained in programming, in languages like Python, as well as software engineering best practice. Depending on interest, this will open up potential job in programming, big data and machine learning at the end of the PhD.
Deadline: Friday 31st May 2019 for an application to the EPSRC funded DTP PhD Studentships.
Please note, applications must a home/UK student with (or expecting) a first/undergraduate degree classified at 2:1 or above.
