Summary

Mrs Bellou has a vast professional experience in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), working as a UAV technician in Law Enforcement.

Her research focuses on UAVs development combined with computer vision techniques (AI), particularly for automated solutions in aerial surveillance/inspection of transmission line facilities. This project involves the implementation of the latest instance segmentation and object detection algorithms, on a custom-built quadcopter UAV, with adequate sensors (optical sensors, electromagnetic detectors, etc.) for autonomous missions.

Custom image datasets and final models will be provided in public as contribution to deep learning community for further research.  Her hope is to achieve a time and cost efficient solution for energy infrastructure inspection and limit human risk to the minimum.
