Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly become a critical driver for organisational change. AI-based technologies have the transformative potential to identify and solve complex business issues. While AI is considered the most disruptive current technology that generates business value through new product and process development, it remains within experimental phase for most organisations. Organisations lack thorough understanding of capabilities required to adopt AI, despite a consistent increase in industrywide AI adoption.the AI adoption rate in the UK currently found much lower at 15.1% in 2020, while it is expected to rise 34.8% by 2040 (DDCMS, 2022). This can be explained by the lower AI readiness level among businesses across industries. Organisations in many sectors struggle to develop strategic initiatives for AI to stay ahead of the competition.
My research seeks to develop a comprehensive framework that will allow organisations to self-assess their AI readiness level. This, in fact, will help organisations in decision making in terms of initiating a new AI project.
