Summary

I am a registered Mental Health Nurse, Lecturer (Education) in Nursing, APEL Co-ordinator on Specialist Community Public Health Nursing programme. Within this role, I lead and teach on Mental Health & Wellbeing module for both BSc and PGDip level, lead and teaching BSc Evidence Based Practice, module lead and supervise dissertation students for MSc degree.  I take an active interest in mental health research and found my passion in teaching and learning.

Prior to becoming a lecturer, I worked within the NHS as both an adult and community mental health nurse. My community clinical experience involved implementing a primary care project established a strong link with GPs and primary health care professionals. l designed and implemented a mental health training programme for practice nurses, district nurses, health visitors and GPs. I involved in teaching communication skills to medical students, teaching mental health topics to a range of health and social care professionals and volunteers. I championed a local Evidence Based Practice group and successfully secured a small nursing bursary for a mental health improvement project for people who presented with first episode of psychosis.
