Miss Nicole Maib
PhD Student

Research area(s)

My current dissertation is on the British Parliamentary debates during the American Revolution. In particular, I am looking at MPs' use of Ireland as a way to form their decisions regarding the conflict in the American colonies.

Research Interests

I have always studied the American Revolution. My undergraduate dissertation was on the motives behind a few Members of Parliament who favored the American colonies during the American Revolution. My dissertation at UCL was titled "Political Identity in Revolutionary America" that looked mostly at the "Britishness" felt by the colonists during the early part of the Revolutionary period, using mostly the debates in the Continental Congress. My KCL dissertation involved an analysis of the British Parliamentary debates after the French joined the war in 1778.
