Mr Philipp Bibik
Associate Lecturer (Education) in Computer Science
Summary
Phil Bibik is an Associate Lecturer and Doctoral Researcher @ Dept. of CompSci in Brunel, with a research focus on AI safety and robustness.
Previously he completed his CompSci undergrad at Brunel, receiving the University Prize for achieving the highest grades in his class.
His current research interests / prior work are:
- The primary focus of his current research is in exploring alignment failures from safety fine-tuning LLMs through Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF)
- Bioinformatics, where he collaborated with the Computational Biology group:
- to created the PyCoM database: https://pycom.brunel.ac.uk/—a public, queriable database of annotated proteins along with derived coevolution matrices
- additionally, exploration of positional, rather than sequential k-mer sequences in proteins to predict stability
- Zero-knowledge (ZK) proofs; in particular their uses for Proof of Personhood (PoP) protocols and anonymized blockchains (à la Monero)
