10 things to do in Uxbridge and surroundings

Easily reachable on foot in 15 minutes from Brunel University, Uxbridge is a thriving suburban town with a lot to offer! It is well connected to central London, which can be reached in 40 minutes via either the Piccadilly or Metropolitan lines, and with motorways nearby you can certainly go anywhere you want.

From Uxbridge station, students are never more than 10 minutes away from restaurants, cafes, shops, and dance clubs. If you prefer to escape to a tranquil spot, no problem! Picturesque landscapes are just nearby Brunel. Let’s find out together 10 things to do in Uxbridge or in the local area.

Fancy a good coffee?

If you are looking for a scented cup of coffee, a creamy cappuccino or fragrant brioches, Harris and Hoole is the right place to go. Just in front of the Uxbridge station, this café offers a cozy and friendly atmosphere and high-quality products.

Looking for something sweet?

Nothing better than a chocoholic waffle, a crepe royale, or a crunchy peanut butter milkshake to satisfy your sweet cravings. Where to find these flamboyant desserts and more? At Creams café. This place has an industrial-style avenue and serves some of the best (and biggest) desserts in town.

ATIK

Uxbridge hosts ATIK, a disco with separate dance rooms for different styles of music. I know, we all miss going out to dance. ATIK is not open as a disco at the moment, but it is still active as a cocktail bar. You can sit at a table with your friends and enjoy a round pizza and good music.

A lovely pub

When the sun is out, I like to go to The Fig Tree with my friends. Just off the busy high street of Uxbridge, this pub offers a tranquil beer garden where to have great meals at affordable prices.

The Chimes

The Chimes, is the best shopping centre in Uxbridge (previously known as Intu), the other shopping area is the Pavillon. In The Chimes, you can find a wide range of well-known shops from TOP SHOP and H&M to JD Sports, Decathlon, and Accessorize. In this enormous shopping district, you can not only find McDonald’s’ Starbucks, Costa, and many other places where to eat, but also the Odeon cinema, beauty centres, and the supermarket Lidl.

Bar Italia

This little homely place near the centre of Uxbridge makes the best cocktails and appetizers in town. The staff is very friendly, the music is good quality, and the back garden is very romantic. It is just the right place either for a night out with friends or a dreamy date.

Jump!

If you need to release your stress and go back to childhood for a day, the Jump Giants Trampoline Parks is easily reachable from Uxbridge. With over 115,000 square feet of interconnected trampolines, a foam zone, and basketball jump sessions, you will definitely have fun there.

Oxhey Skatepark

If you are passionate about skateboarding, the Oxhey Skatepark is the closest park to Uxbridge. Although it takes one hour by means (but only 30 minutes by car) to go there, it really worth it. In the middle of a green landscape, this impressive skatepark has well designed and deep ramps in concrete.

A walk to the lake

In no more than 20 minutes walking from Brunel University, you can arrive at the Little Britain Lake: a peaceful and suggestive spot hosting a rich animal life. I usually go jogging there, and it is very relaxing.

A taste of countryside

Colne Valley Regional Park offers a wonderful natural landscape just outside Uxbridge. This place is ideal for boat trips, walking, playing golf, cycling, horse riding, and breathing fresh air. Want more? This park is home to pilot training schools: you can learn how to fly!
