Harlington Hospice is a specialized form of healthcare working throughout the London Borough of Hillingdon. The organisation aims to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families by providing comfort, pain management, and emotional support to patients and their families during their end-of-life journey.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will be contributing to the day-to-day running of the Inpatient Units by providing support to the housekeeper and serving meals and drinks to the patients/visitors. As an Inpatient Unit Volunteer, you will acquire skills such as teamwork, time management, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Typical duties include:
- Providing hospitality and support to visitors and patients, ensuring their needs are met and any requests have been attended to
- Assisting with food and beverage services by distributing menus, aiding patients in selecting meals, and offering refreshments to visitors
- Maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen area by cleaning and restocking water jugs, collecting finished plates, and so on
- Engaging with the patients by having a friendly chat with them or participating in activities with them
Please note, the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
