Summary
I lead a highly skilled planning and policy team, reporting to and deputising for the Chief Operating Officer. My personal areas of expertise are in: research management and evaluation (REF), business intelligence and analytics, risk management, annual planning and continuous improvement.
I have a strong national and international profile and have delivered workshops and key note speeches on higher education strategic planning, research evaluation and key performance indicators in the UK, Europe and South America.

Responsibility
Strategy, annual planning and monitoring:
- Delivery of the annual planning cycle including the supporting financial resource framework
- Performance monitoring, development of key performance indicators
- Business Intelligence and benchmarking
- Student target settings and population projections
- Coordination and oversight of HESA statutory returns: staff, students, finance and estates
Research Strategy:
- Implementation of the research strategy, impact agenda and monitoring of research performance
- Preparation and delivery of REF
Continuous Improvement:
- Management of the Continuous Improvement programme
- Delivery of Rapid Improvement Events
- Reporting on benefits under the Value for Money agenda
Governance:
- Responsible for all Risk Management policies and activities
- Responsible for coordinating Business Continuity Planning
- Reporting on institutional Value for Money and statutory reporting to HEFCE
- Secretariat for several university committees
