The Water Conservators Water Engineering or Environmental Management Bursary 2024/5 (External funding)

For students applying to study Water & Environmental Engineering MSc or Environmental Management MSc at Brunel University London commencing September 2024 or January 2025 (Home students only).

The Water Conservators Bursary is awarded by The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators, a Livery Company of the City of London. The company has a particular interest in issues related to water and the environment. It is anticipated that, for the 2024-25 academic year, we will award a single bursary of £5,000 towards the tuition fees of the successful candidate commencing study in Water & Environmental Engineering or Environmental Management MSc in September 2024 or January 2025.

Students wishing to apply for the bursary should, in addition to having a formal offer from Brunel University London on one of the eligible courses, submit a 500-word statement that clearly indicates their interest in water and/or the environment (ideally both) and their future career plans in a related field.

The award is only open to applicants who have the right to permanently live and work in the UK.

The criteria for selection of the successful candidate are:

1. Applicants must be entitled to permanently live and work in the UK.
2. The candidate has a formal offer from Brunel University London on either the Water and Environmental Engineering MSc or Environmental Management MSc for January 2024.
3. The applicant, in the 500-word statement, should demonstrate:
   • An interest in, and understanding of, issues related to water and/or the environment, which may be demonstrated through previous studies, membership of organisations or voluntary groups.
   • An ability to communicate critically and effectively, at an appropriate academic level. This should include references to the literature where appropriate.
   • Plans for career development in the water and/or environmental sectors and ways The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators can support this.

We may request that shortlisted candidates be interviewed to discuss their application.

Submission and deadline

The deadline for applications is 4pm on Friday 13 September 2024. The successful candidate will be notified by Friday 20 September 2024. Applications should be sent by email to scholarships@brunel.ac.uk with the subject reference ‘Water Conservators 2025 Application’. Applicants should provide their full name and application ID number. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
